Cyber Security Degree Apprenticeship recognised by the NCSC

Gloucestershire College is delighted to be the first college in England to offer a degree apprenticeship recognised by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) – a part of GCHQ, for delivering quality education and training. The Integrated Degree Apprenticeship in Cyber Security, delivered in partnership with the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), has been awarded provisional certification by the UK’s cyber experts, in the latest round of its certified degree initiative. GC Apprentice Finalist in South West Business and Community Awards

Congratulations to Leanne Finch who is a finalist the 2021 South West Business and Community Awards, nominated for ‘Apprentice of the Year.’ Leanne won the award in 2020 and is back for a second year to reclaim her title. We caught up with Leanne to congratulate her on this amazing achievement.

Gloucestershire College leading the way out of digital skills shortage ‘disaster’

The UK could face a “catastrophic gap” in digital skills warned a recent report published by the Learning and Work Institute and WorldSkills UK. Despite the report’s findings – one being that nationally, young people studying IT subjects is declining – Gloucestershire College has again bucked the trend, with an increased demand for its IT, cyber and digital courses and apprenticeships. Student applications for September 2021 starts have significantly grown across the board, with applications for the College’s university level courses – computing and digital degrees, HNCs and HNDs increasing by a massive 143% year on year. Works underway to transform Gloucestershire College’s Cheltenham Campus for Cyber, IT and Engineering

The widely anticipated project to create Gloucestershire College’s new £3m Institute of Technology facilities at its Cheltenham campus has commenced.

The redevelopment will see the creation of a brand new cyber and IT area, with specialist computing labs, state of the art attack and defence rooms, forensic tool kits, eco study pods, a dedicated entrance and an open study and networking area. The engineering teaching and learning area is also being extensively refurbished with dedicated spaces for those studying higher level engineering in Cheltenham.
