Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships gives your child a hands on experience, a salary and the opportunity to gain qualifications while they work. Often an apprentice will be in the work place 4 days a week and in college 1 day a week. Apprenticeships cover a wide range of levels and some even allow your child to get a degree while they work.

Apprenticeships are available in a wide range of areas from accountancy to construction.

Your child should consider an apprenticeship if…

  • They enjoy learning in a practical way
  • They feel ready to go into the work place
  • They know the area they would like to work in

They should consider alternatives if…

  • They want to stay in full time education at a college or school
  • They enjoy studying academic subjects in a classroom environment
  • They don’t feel ready to go into a work environment
