Specialise in Cyber, Network or Software Engineering at University Level

We’re delighted to announce that university-level IT and computing learners can now choose to specialise in cyber security, network engineering or software engineering on their path to achieving a full degree at Gloucestershire College.
Our bespoke IT degree, launching September 2022, enables students to choose which route they want to work in and focus their learning much earlier than previously.
The degree programme incorporates a one-year HNC, one-year HND and one-year top-up degree, taught in partnership with UWE Bristol, out of our impressive £3m Advanced Digital Academy at Cheltenham Campus.
Increasingly, students are choosing to study university-level qualifications at GC, rather than at university, to save up to a third on course and relocation costs, benefit from smaller class sizes and exclusive access to our network of employers, and train under industry-experienced lecturers who have had successful careers themselves, and know what employers are looking for in graduates.
The HNC – Higher National Certificate – is equivalent to the first year of university and covers modules such as programming, web design, networking, database design, software development lifecycles, data analytics and Artificial Intelligence.
The HND – Higher National Diploma – is equivalent to the second year of university and is the point at which students can choose to specialise in cyber security, software engineering or network engineering. Modules include network management, network security, forensics, Internet of Things, cloud computing and app development.
It’s a Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) supported by the Government, and we’re proud to offer it as part of our partnership in the West of England Institute of Technology. Our university-level courses have been developed in partnership with employers to ensure students have the skills and technical knowledge they need to fill skills gaps – meaning our students will ultimately be more sought-after and employable.
Those who would like to achieve a full degree, can then move on to the UWE Bristol BSc Hons degree in Information Technology, which is taught by both GC and UWE Bristol expert lecturers at Cheltenham Campus.
