GC sponsors Cheltenham Science Festival

We’re delighted to announce our sponsorship of an exciting event in this year’s Cheltenham Science Festival, entitled Level Up: The Power of Gaming.
Taking place on Friday 11 June at the Town Hall’s Pillar Room, the panel event is ideal for gamers and aspiring creators, and promises to showcase the positive steps being made to create a more diverse and inclusive gaming world.
We’re proud to offer the best games design training in the region, with our Level 3 (A Level equivalent) Digital Computer Games Design and Development course available at our Gloucester and Cinderford campuses, and HNC/HND (university level) Games Development course available at Cheltenham Campus.
During the course of an hour, presenter and journalist Shay Thompson will discuss the exciting future of this evolving and influential industry with video games expert, presenter and producer Alysia Judge, award-winning writer, editor and creative consultant Corey Brotherson, and former games journalist and co-founder of 3-Fold Games Chella Ramanan.
Between them, the panellists have worked on projects for McLaren’s Shadowcast, Nintendo, Netflix, Sony PlayStation and the Eurogamer Network, and games including Windrush Tales and the BAFTA-nominated indie Before I Forget.
Tickets cost £8 per person and are available to Cheltenham Festivals members from Wednesday 5 May, and the general public from Thursday 13 May. Click here to book yours. If you’re unable to make the event in person, it will be live-streamed for free and available on-demand via the CheltSciFest player.
The sponsorship supports the anticipated summer launch of our new £3m computing and engineering facilities, as part of our partnership in the West of England Institute of Technology offering higher-level technical training with key employers across the region – watch this space for the grand reveal!
