Learn languages online with GC

If you’ve always wanted to learn a new language to use on holiday or with friends and family, now you can from the comfort of home, thanks to the launch of Gloucestershire College’s new remote courses for beginners, which are fun, flexible, affordable and accessible to all.
Ideal for complete beginners or those who studied the language years ago and want to go back to basics, French Beginners starts on Tuesday 30 June and German Beginners on Wednesday 1 July.
Each six-week course is taught remotely by GC experts; perfect for those who are confident in their ability to learn independently but would benefit from the interaction of a virtual class, with no on-campus attendance required.
The courses cover everyday vocabulary, basic grammar and sentence structure, and culture, with topics including greetings and social expressions; family and personal details; numbers, dates, time and colours; the home; free time and hobbies; out and about; and more.
The two-hour classes will take place in the evenings, ensuring they fit in with existing home and work commitments, and cost just £84 per person, or are free of charge to those in receipt of certain benefits or working and earning less than £16,009.50 annual gross income.
Amie Nutbrown, Head of Commercial, said: “We’re delighted to launch the first of our new range of online courses with French and German Beginners, and are confident that learners will flourish via remote learning with Gloucestershire College.
“In response to the recent pandemic, we want to ensure adults can continue learning, wherever they are, whether that be for academic progression, business or pleasure. Many remain largely at home – with work and childcare commitments – so we have adapted delivery of some of our most popular courses to be able to offer online-only, remote and blended delivery options.
“We aim to offer the widest range of online courses locally, so watch this space for the next available courses, coming soon.”
