How Do I Apply For An Apprenticeship?

Becoming an apprentice is a step on a real career path. Apprenticeships offer paid work experience and the chance to study and gain a formal qualification at the same time. GC has lots of apprenticeships in a range of business sectors.
Applying for an apprenticeship is a little different to applying for a full-time college course and not everyone is guaranteed an apprenticeship.
There are two ways to get yourself an apprenticeship:
- Find a vacancy: There are many vacancies on our website from employers ready to recruit an apprentice. Find an apprenticeship that you like the look of and apply online.
- Find a willing employer: You may already have found an employer that you’re interested in working for but you don’t quite have the skills for them to take you on as a full-time, permanent employee. If they are willing to take you on as an apprentice, earning while you learn the skills, ask them to contact our Business Hub to find out more.
Following each of those steps, if you meet the criteria for the job, you will be asked to attend an interview at the College. It’s important that you attend this interview to ensure you don’t get withdrawn from the rest of the process. If it’s a vacancy you’re applying for, following a successful interview with us, you will then be interviewed by your potential employer.
It can take some time to match you to your perfect apprenticeship and employer, we’d always advise to start applying for an apprenticeship as early as possible.
Find out more about apprenticeships at our Apprenticeship Open Evening: Wednesday 18 March, 5.00pm-8.00pm.
