Apprenticeship fees halved to 5% for SMEs
From April onwards, the 10% fee that small businesses must pay when they take on apprentices will be halved, the chancellor has announced.
In the Spring Statement Phillip Hammond announced the change, telling the commons that SMEs will only contribute 5 per cent as part of a “£695 million package to support apprenticeships”.
Mr Hammond said: “As well as backing businesses to invest and grow, we will also make sure British workers are equipped with the skills they need to thrive and prosper”.
This announcement means that apprenticeship training is now more affordable for SMEs who can benefit from growing their workforce or upskilling existing members of staff with apprenticeships.
At GC, we are proud to support Gloucestershire’s best employers with apprenticeship training across a range of industries and sectors. We offer a broad selection of apprenticeships from entry level right through to degree level. We also offer many professional apprenticeships designed to upskill existing members of staff with professionally accredited qualifications such as AAT, ILM, CMI, CIPD, BCS, and many more.
