GC delighted to be shortlisted as a finalist for the "Health and Wellbeing Award" by REBA

31 January 2019

We are very excited to have been shortlisted as a finalist for the “Health and Wellbeing” award under the “Innovation” category by the Reward and Employee Benefits Association (REBA).

The awards provide the opportunity to celebrate and gain professional recognition at the evening ceremony on Thursday 7 February.

It has been a good year for Gloucestershire College having previously been selected as a finalist for the “Best Place to Work” award by the Gloucestershire Business Awards due to our strong evidential record of employee benefits.

GC offers a host of opportunities for staff to develop personally and professionally, and a more recent focus on health and wellbeing to improve work-life balance has proven to be hugely popular.  The College now offers a range of activities before/after work and during lunch time ranging from yoga, running clubs and the very popular GC Choir!

Favourite staff benefits include:

  • up to 38 days’ basic annual leave plus bank holidays and Christmas closure for non-teaching staff
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • health and wellbeing activities
  • competitive high street and NUS card student discount scheme for all staff
  • free hair and beauty treatments in GC salons
  • flexible working policy
  • attractive pension schemes
  • gym membership discounts

Gloucestershire College employee base includes academic, professional services and maintenance teams, as well as working in partnership with hundreds of local businesses to upskill and develop their workforces through bespoke training and award-winning apprenticeships.

Principal and Chief Executive, Matt Burgess commented on the award nomination news saying:

“I am delighted that Gloucestershire College has been shortlisted for the Health and Wellbeing Innovation Award by REBA. Staff wellbeing and happiness is a priority for employers to ensure that they retain motivated staff that feel valued. I have seen a wide range of people getting involved in the activities and it has certainly increased a sense of fun!”
