"I chose an apprenticeship because it was different and I felt I was not wasting 3 years at University to potentially not get a job after. With an apprenticeship it is common place that the company then takes you on as a full-time employee once you have finished as you know how the company works and are experienced in the role. This makes you feel like you’ve achieved something after 18 months of learning.
I got my apprenticeship by looking on the Government apprenticeship website and then the Gloucestershire College website as it gave more in-depth learning on marketing as a whole, which was important to me.Once in the role my manager mapped my workload to what I was learning in college, so my coursework was happening in my day to day job, making it easier to complete each unit.
My top tip when applying for apprenticeships is:
Make sure you know what industry you want to go into before taking on an apprenticeship, because it can be hard at the beginning as you are working 37.5 hours a week alongside doing a college course, so your heart needs to be in it from the beginning."
