Anna Creed

Before studying at GC, I was a teacher for 25 years. In 2017 my father was diagnosed with cancer, so I became a full-time carer. When I began studying the L2 AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting, I wasn’t really thinking about a new career path. I just wanted a new challenge and something to keep my brain active!

Most of all I’ve enjoyed being part of a vibrant learning community. Everyone I’ve met while studying has embodied this. There’s a palpable sense of being able to achieve and to become whatever you want to be.

After completing Level 3, I considered starting Level 4 but my lecturers advised me that I would benefit more from working in an accounting environment alongside study. I arranged work experience at a local accountancy practice and enjoyed it immensely, and was delighted when I was offered a job as a trainee accounting technician.

Once I've completed my Level 4 course I will be qualified to become a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (MAAT).
