You’ll learn: human lifespan development; anatomy and physiology for health and social care; sociological perspectives; psychological perspectives; meeting individual care and support needs; physiological disorders and their care.
Expect: to attend a work placement along side your full time course which will help you to broaden the application of your knowledge in this industry.

Many of our learners go on to study at Higher Education a diverse range of courses such as Nursing, Midwifery, Criminology, Psychology or Paramedic Science.
This course will give you the opportunity to further develop your knowledge and understanding in relation to health and social care.

- Enquiries into Current Research
- Promoting Public Health
- Psychological Perspectives
- Principles of Safe Practice
- Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs
You will study a wide range of care related topics whilst undertaking this programme of study. This qualifications will be assessed by external exams and internally assessed assignments some of which are core and mandatory.
You will need to complete and pay for a DBS check in order to attend any work experience in a health or social care setting. There is a dedicated work placement officer to help with this if required.
At Gloucestershire College we want students to develop their English and Maths skills so that they achieve their learning goals and future career aims. For this reason all full-time students (16-18) who have not achieved grade 4 or above English language or maths GCSE will study these subjects as part of their course.
