By listening and engaging with employers across the county and in the South West, we were able to design and add 4 new apprenticeships to our portfolio.
Tech/Digital
Starting in September 2023
Digital and Technology Solutions (DATS) Professional Integrated Degree Level 6 Apprenticeship
- Software Engineer pathway
Overview
Suitable for those providing technology enabled solutions to internal and/or external customers, in a range of areas including software, business and systems analysis, cyber security, data analysis and network infrastructure.
Ideal for: Software Developer
Duration: 36 months, plus End Point Assessment

DevOps Engineer Level 4 Apprenticeship
Overview
The broad purpose of the occupation is to enable a wide range of public and private sector companies to get valuable working software out in front of active users, both external and internal, frequently and safely, reducing time to market, delivering increased value - both with respect to the end user and the business - and improving the quality of digital services.
Ideal for: Automation engineer, DevOps Engineer, Full stack Developer, Site Reliability Engineer
Duration: 24 months, plus End Point Assessment

- Scripting and coding in domain specific languages, using pair/mob programming techniques
- Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration
- Building a CI/CD pipeline using automation tooling and often APIs
- Promoting a DevOps Culture – Using Agile principles to build and run

Engineering

Machining Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship
Overview
Designed to appeal to a wide range of employers, this programme contribute to Gloucestershire’s engineering talent pool by equipping the sector’s current and future workforce with skills, knowledge and behaviours in line with the latest industry requirements.
The broad purpose of the occupation is to produce complex and precision work by machining components machined from metal or specialist materials using conventional or CNC machine tools.
Duration: 42 months, plus 3 months for End Point Assessment

- Health and safety in the engineering workplace

- Computer numerical control (CNC) programming/machining

In addition, employers can choose two optional units to be delivered, including:

- Engineering inspection and quality control
- Mechanical engineering principles
- Engineering drawing
Apprentices will spend 1 or 2 days in college per week, depending on the year of study, and the rest of the time out in the workplace with their employer.

Autocare Technician Level 2 Apprenticeship
Overview
Our new Autocare Technician Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard is designed in consultation with local employers and provides learners with a fantastic start to their automotive career.
Apprentices can gain expertise not only in the technical elements of the role but also learn excellent customer handling, sales as well as strong problem solving and self-organisation skills.
Duration: Typically, 36 months plus End Point Assessment
On completion of this Standard the Auto-care Technician will be eligible to apply for IMI membership as a Registered Young Professional or if they wish as an Associate Member. They would also gain entry onto the IMI Professional Register.
